Phil Carstens first got
into music by taking up the cello at the age of ten. At the age of fifteen he joined the local college symphony orchestra,
and began playing the bass guitar. In addition to taking lessons, he learned how to play bass by watching his heroes, Geddy
Lee and John Entwistle, and developed an interest in the blues. He still plays cello in the orchestra, but the bass guitar
is his instrument of choice. His main influences include Led Zeppelin, The Who, Jimi Hendrix, Rush, and Frank Zappa.
